Countryside Walks

Between the months of May and September, visitors are invited to join our dedicated local experts on a sociable and educational journey through some of the most exclusive parts of the Haddon Estate.

With a focus on the wide variety of flora and fauna found in the area, our countryside walks will guide you through the historic water meadow, the River Wye - home to one of the only naturally breeding populations of rainbow trout, water voles, badger setts and yellow meadow ant hills in the grasslands. Our countryside walks not only provide the opportunity for stunning views of the valley, but also a rare look at some of the historic features of the Hall, including a trip into the, unusually square, dovecote; an area closed to the general public.

While the walks are not too strenuous, some of the route can be steep and muddy, so we do advise that guests wear suitable footwear, and note that dogs will not be permitted on the walk. So that those attending our countryside walks have the best possible experience, we do limit groups to 20 people per walk.

The dates for our countryside walks in 2019:

  • Thursday 16th May
  • Thursday 20th June
  • Thursday 18th July
  • Thursday 15th August
  • Thursday 19th September

Booking

The walks are around 2km in length and take around 2 hours to complete, dependant on group ability. Walkers embark on their journey from in front of the Stable Block at 10:30am, and arrive back at Haddon Hall in time for a spot of lunch and a drink at our restaurant.
