Haddon Hall is open to guests throughout most of the year, with some variations during the Autumn and Winter months.

Tickets

You can buy general admission tickets to the Hall and Gardens online* or at our ticket office at the gatehouse upon arrival. One ticket gains you access to all public rooms of the Hall, as well as the world renowned gardens, all of which you are encouraged to explore at your leisure, taking as long as you like to enjoy every detail.

Our car park is situated across the road from the house and grounds, on the opposite side of the A6.

The distance from the car park to the Hall is approximately 250 metres and includes some gravel surface and 30 steps. We ask that visitors take special care when crossing the busy A6 and note that the car park can become extremely crowded during special events.

Directions

By Road - Haddon Hall is situated on the A6 between Bakewell and Rowsley, 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Bakewell. The Hall has a dedicated car park on the A6.

If using Sat Nav or other navigation software, we recommend that you input directions specifically to our car park to avoid being taken via a private track with our postcode. Alternatively, use directions for Bakewell or Rowsley, then follow the brown tourist signs for Haddon Hall. The car park is clearly signposted from both directions.

By Air - There are a number of airports within approximately an hour’s drive of Haddon Hall. If you are travelling via public transport, please see alternative directions by clicking the train and bus tabs. You can also find the best route for you by searching Google Maps or other digital Maps services and exploring car or public transport suggestions.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport
Approximately 1 hour
Get on M18 in Loversall from Great Yorkshire Way
Follow M18 and M1 to A617 in Derbyshire. Take exit 29 from M1.
Continue on A617 to the Haddon Hall car park.

Manchester Airport
Approximately 1 hour 5 minutes
Take Airport Spur to Ringway Rd W/A555
Follow A555, A6 and A623 to B6465 in Derbyshire
Turn right onto B6465
Continue on A617 to the Haddon Hall car park

East Midlands Airport
Approximately 1 hour 5 minutes
Get on M1 from A453
Follow M1 to A617 in Derbyshire. Take exit 29 from M1
Continue on A617 to the Haddon Hall Car Park.

By Train - We have excellent train links with many major UK stations via Matlock, Sheffield, Derby or Chesterfield. Bus services (see ‘Bus’ tab) from each station run directly to to our driveway, or taxis take between 30 minutes - 1 hour and cost around £30 - £50.

By Bus - Bus from Matlock Train Station
Take either the TransPeak (TP) or the 6.1 bus route from Platform 1 of the Matlock bus station, towards Buxton or Bakewell respectively. This is an hourly service during the day, with journey times between 25 - 30 minutes.

Bus from Derby
Take the TransPeak (TP) bus route from Platform 21 of the Derby bus station towards Buxton. This is, again, an hourly service, with a journey time of just over 1 hour. Alternatively, travel by train to Matlock and follow the route above.

Bus from Bakewell
Take either the TransPeak (TP), 6.1 or 172 services from Stand E of Bakewell bus station. Buses are regular, with a journey time of around 5 minutes or less.

Bus from Sheffield
Take the 218 Peak Line service to Bakewell from Bay D3 of Sheffield Bus Interchange, leaving every half an hour with a journey time of around an hour, then follow instructions above from Bakewell.

Bus From Chesterfield
Take the 170 bus route from Stop B12 on New Beetwell Street to Bakewell, leaving every hour with a journey time of around 45 minutes, then follow instructions above from Bakewell.

On Foot or Bicycle - There are public footpaths close to Haddon Hall, but no public footpaths run through the site - please check OS maps. There is a footpath along the A6 between Rowsley and Bakewell, though we would advise caution if walking or cycling, due to the busy main road. Bicycles can be left free of charge in the bike racks located in the car park, and we also have a charging point for electric bikes.

Food & Drink

We are pleased to be able to offer visitors a range of homemade dishes, light bites and refreshments at our restaurant, many of which are specialities of the area and country.

Located in the Hall’s 17th Century stable blocks, guests can enjoy fresh, traditional food with wonderful views of the estate. We have a varied menu available, catering to all tastes, and we urge our international visitors to sample our Bakewell Pudding - a famous local delicacy!

Tours

A variety of tours are run throughout the year, allowing you to see everything that Haddon Hall has to offer with a knowledgeable guide.

We invite you to join us for free guided tours of the Hall, gardens and estate on selected dates each month. Tours are included in your admission price on a first come, first serve basis, providing the opportunity to discover the story of the Hall for any visitor who wishes to do so.

Stay

At the end of Haddon’s winding driveway, the Gatehouse hosts our gift and plant shop, selling charming souvenirs and delightful gifts to celebrate your visit.

Our range of carefully chosen treasures reflect the seasons, from beautiful additions to your home and garden in the summer months, to decorative Christmas ornaments and unique gifts in December. Some items are designed exclusively for the shop by local artisans and craftspeople, all of which reflect the beauty, charm and rich history of Haddon.

The gift shop also sells our official guidebook, which tells the captivating story of the Hall room by room, helping history come to life and acting as an excellent souvenir in itself.

Accessibility

We welcome all visitors to Haddon Hall, but please note that there are many uneven floors and steps around the site due to the age and architecture of the building. If in doubt, we recommend reading our full accessibility statement here, or email info@haddonhall.co.uk for full information.

Unfortunately, we cannot allow large bags, prams, pushchairs or mobility scooters into the house. We do however offer a variety of alternative baby carrying equipment, and safe bag storage at the entrance.
No dogs are permitted into the Hall or grounds, aside from guide and support dogs. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Smoking or vaping is not permitted anywhere within the grounds and halls of Haddon.
